Prater and circenses
There were several times when I gave in to the temptation of signing up for bus trips, joining various random groups made up of the most diverse individuals, each and every one attracted by some of the items displayed by the organizer eager to make his offer as attractive as possible for the diverse paying participants.
I have often been terrified of the tendency/rule of being included in those tourist processions, with their guides at the head, flag in hand, or, more recently, with their sophisticated systems by which the disciplined tourists, such as chickens following a mother hen, wearing headphones, can listen to more or less documented explanations.
I have come to believe that the probability that in any tourist group there will NOT sneak in at least ONE idiot to spoil the whole atmosphere and, quite often, even upset everyone's schedule, is infinitesimal!! Each time I met such a "specimen", which makes it harder for me to decide on another trip of this kind.
On the other hand, the organizers cook up their itineraries such as to include objectives of wide interest, as commercial as possible, with a more or less deserved reputation, but which they are convinced are kind of ”catchy” with the crowd.
Thus, being part of a group registered in an Italian itinerary, I arrived in Verona where I galloped through the city center and passed tangentially past the Arena (What a magnificent concert Deep Purple held there in 2018 is hard to imagine! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIXQrIWd_Ow),  to finally get to the fake building called "Juliet's House", known to be counterfeited, together with its famous balcony, for the simple reason of touching the bronze breasts of the local statue, already polished by thousands of "palpations", the fruit of an unstoppable "herd effect", and of writing all sorts of words of wisdom on a periodically changed sheet.
However, this post refers to a "trip" to Vienna where, after the Schönbrunn Palace tour, I could choose to visit either the zoo or the nearby carriage museum. Since I don't like zoos, I opted for the latter …
After all these, the group got together again and went to see the Prater. I was half-curious to visit this settlement, so I let myself be carried away by the wave beyond its gates.

Of everything I saw there, I was impressed by the figurines in this post… and that's all about it!! The rest is … "Prater et circenses"!!
